How to join Rotary Make a difference and have fun Interested in Rotary and wondering how you can become involved in some way? You've seen the name but probably wondered what we do, well read on . . .
The
Rotary Club of Mount Waverley is a group of people who meet regularly
each Wednesday evening. We have a great time and in the process help
our local community. Our members come from all over the area and are
a cross section of our
community.
If you are looking to meet more people, network, or just make a
difference why not come along to see if Rotary is for you.
What is Rotary?
Rotary
is a group of individuals helping the local community and raising
money for international projects. Globally
we are a worldwide organization that provides humanitarian service,
encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build
goodwill and peace in the world Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians
belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and
geographical areas. In
our addition to our local community projects, the Rotary Foundation
is one of the World's largest charities with projects including
global polio eradication and disaster relief. This
all sounds great, but Rotary's component part, it's people, are just
ordinary people who get together to have fun and enjoy the
camaraderie and in the process make a difference, sometime on a very
large scale. Please find out more about Rotary.
What Rotary Isn't: Rotary
isn't a religious, political, or nationalistic organisation. It does
not interfere with the men and women members' religious, political,
or other beliefs. Rotary isn't some kind of secret society. There are
no secret handshakes or the like. Rotary clubs are a bunch of
like-minded people united in their desire to make a difference in
their community and the world. It isn't a social club, although
strong fellowship is a key component that unites the club in its
projects. Members are expected to make a contribution to the life of
the club, to the extent that they are able. Rotary offers plenty of
scope for members' initiatives and for the promotion of their concern
for the community at large. Rotary isn't "an old boy's club"
dominated by an established group of cronies. It is intentionally
structured to offer leadership opportunities to all its members.
